Tim Ward is a widely experienced senior manager and consultant with many years’ experience of managing small, medium and large and complex information technology projects.
His particular expertise in the definition and management of changes in business processes that are required to use new systems more effectively is an important aspect of many projects in which he has worked. Tim is also highly experienced in co-ordinating and managing multiple company solutions where specialist disciplines are provided by different entities each of which has key deliverables for larger projects.
Tim has had a long career in the IT supply industry, first with Unisys and then later with Logica, working his way up from the role of a programmer to project and line management. Joining Unisys (then Sperry Univac) from university, he undertook projects in a number of industry sectors including oil, finance and aviation as well as running a development centre for communications software. Roles included programming, system analysis, design, implementation, process definition and validation, user training, all aspects of system testing and project management.
Joining the software house Logica in 1987, Tim was responsible for overseeing a group of implementation projects for a number of clients in the financial sector.
In 1990 Tim joined the IT consultancy arm of British Airways subsidiary Speedwing Consulting. Here he worked on a large number of major airport and rail-airport surface access projects in India, Kazakhstan and Kuala Lumpur.
In 1999, Tim formed his own consulting company and has completed major projects for BAA and Aer Rianta in Ireland.
At BAA Tim ran the Project Office for the Airport Operational Systems implementation as part of the Year 2000 initiative. Responsibilities included project planning, budget tracking, contract management, change control, delivery management and requirements definition and management.
For Aer Rianta, Tim has been managing the implementation of IBM’s Airport Operational System (AOMIS) at Dublin. This has included a high-level strategic consultancy on deployment of AOMIS as well as the strategy for check in optimisation. Responsibilities included contract and budget management and new process definition in addition to normal project management activities.
