Angus was a member of HM Diplomatic Service and HM Treasury from 1963 to 1968. His appointments included First Secretary (Economic), United Kingdom Treasury and Supply Delegation, Washington D.C.

Subsequently Angus taught politics and economics at Oxford and London Universities. At London University he was Director of the London School of Slavonic Studies.

In 1979 Angus joined BP as Divisional Manager, Corporate Strategy Department. Here he masterminded the introduction an implementation of a new strategic planning process in throughout the BP Group. He was then appointed as the Area Oil Co-ordinator for the Middle East and South East Asia where he was responsible for the development of the downstream oil refining and marketing businesses. During his tenure BP carried out a major successful investment in upgrading plant at its joint venture Singapore Oil Refinery.

He was invited to join British Telecom as Director Corporate Strategy, a post he held from 1984 to 1988. Here he was primarily concerned with strategic planning and the evaluation and management of complex capital investment projects. These included a major joint venture with DuPont in fibre optical cables. He also worked closely managing BT’s relations with the Regulator.

Since 1988, Angus has worked in the professional consultancy field. Successively he was, from 1988 to 1994, Managing Director of Strategic Planning Associates (SPA) and then A T Kearney, based in London. SPA was a derivative company from Boston Consulting Group while A T Kearney is a well known American general management consultancy. In 1994 he became a partner in Genrho, a financial boutique and consultancy based in Geneva. His next appointment from 1997 to 2000 was as a partner of Mitchell Madison, an American management consultancy specialising in the financial sector. In professional consulting Angus has had involvement in a large number of international and UK projects in telecoms, government health care, oil and petrochemicals, banking, and transport and infrastructure development.

He was appointed as Chairman of Vulcan Associates in 2002 and Chairman of MSP Solutions in 2004.

Angus is M.A. (Oxford) and Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers (FIEE).
