Ian Dunkerley

ian dunkerley sIan is a qualified accountant and financial specialist. He has gained extensive experience in aviation including a career lasting over 20 years with British Airways and a further 9 years of consultancy practice.

Ian’s career at British Airways encompassed a large number of different financial disciplines, including auditing, departmental operating and capital budgets, group budgets and management accounts. Specific tasks included financial appraisal of proposed computer systems, analysis of BA property and of the in-flight retail business. He had a major participation in British Airways' privatisation. As Finance Manager Purchasing, he provided a full financial advisory service to the BA Director of Purchasing and introduced an evaluation process for major 'Make/Buy' decisions. He also negotiated with major suppliers.

He also developed expertise in the handling of the financial affairs of smaller subsidiary companies, particularly while seconded to France to work with the management of TAT, which had been acquired by BA. Later he was given the task of integrating Dan Air's accounting systems into those of BA.

Ian’s consultancy activities have been performed in many parts of the world. He has carried out various financial diagnostic projects and developed corporate plans for airlines in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and South America. He has also undertaken studies into potential privatisation of various UK regional airports.

Ian is a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and has a law degree (LLB) from Manchester University. He is a fluent French speaker.
